On peut rencontrer ce félin au sud-est des Etats-Unis, en Amérique centrale et du sud. Il vit solitaire dans la jungle épaisse, près de l'eau. Il chasse ses proies sur le sol, mais capture aussi poissons et tortues dans les rivières. La population des Jaguars est estimée à 15 000 individus. jaguar.
