Le Scoresbysund au Groenland est le plus grand fjord au monde. Il n'est pas rare de distinguer plus d'une centaine d'icebergs à l'horizon.

6h 10 du matin, le soleil se lève sur les montagnes du Lillefjord au Groenland. Le spectacle dure à peine 10 minutes.

Fin aôut, une grosse tempête s'abat sur la mer du Groenland. Les icebergs en forme d'arche sont assez rares et sont très spectaculaires.

C'est au large de l'île Rathbone que coula la Hansa commandée par Friedrich Hegemann en août 1869. L'équipage allemand survécut en vivant dans une hutte qui dériva sur un floe de glace jusqu'au sud du Groenland !

En été, les chiens groenlandais sont inutiles aux chasseurs et doivent souvent compter sur eux mêmes pour survivre car les Inuits les nourissent moins quand le phoque vient à manquer.

Le mois de septembre ets un mois extrêmement instable au nord-est Groenland. les tempêtes parfois chargées de neige s'abattent avec beaucoup de violence sur les fjords.

Cette baie constitue l'avancée la plus à l'ouest de l'Islande. Elle fait face au Groenland, distant de 280 km. breioavik,islande.
