Singe Gelada Male dominant perché dans une bruyère géante (Ericacée). (Theropithecus gelada) in (Erica arborea) Parc National du Simien. Ethiopie. 3000 m d'altitude. Gecko du désert (Pachydactylus rangei). Ce gecko est endémique au désert du Namib en Namibie. Il vit dans les dunes de sable. Essentiellement nocturne, il n'aime pas la lumière directe du soleil, ses yeux sont particulièrement sensibles. Il doit humidifier et nettoyer ses paupières régulièrement à l'aide de sa langue suffisament longue pour celà. Ses pieds palmés lui permettent de se déplacer facilement sur le sable comme avec des raquettes sur la neige, et surtout de creuser des galeries dans lesquelles y vit à l'abri des prédateurs et du soleil.. Sa peau est lisse et très fine, richement vascularisée pour dissimper la chaleur. Parc National du Dorob. Namibie. Vipere des dunes ou vipere de Pering guey (Bitis peringueyi), Desert du Namib. Cette vipere de petite taille (20 à 25 cm) vit sur les dunes de sable du desert du Namib, elle est endemique à cette region de NAMIBIE. Elle chasse de petits lezards et rongeurs presque completement enfouis dans le sable ne laissant depasser que sa tete et ses yeux qui sont situes tres haut sur sa tête (adpatation). Elle attire ses proie avec l'extrémite de sa queue qu'elle agite comme un leure. Elle se deplace sur le côte, laissant des traces en zig-zag sur la sable.
